Better Spirit for the spirits industry
Better Spirit is a further development of the VINOflux system described in the appendix, which is used, among other things, to optimize the tannin profile of red wines and to sterilize them before bottling.
Better Spirit serves to optimize spirits.
Spirits often have an unpleasant sharp aftertaste.
This can be eliminated by treating them with Better Spirit for about 1 minute without affecting the aroma and taste. The perception of the spirits is thus significantly intensified and the drinking and tasting experience is given a new value.
As a result, the perception of the spirit becomes much more complex and connoisseurs can experience a variety of flavor nuances that they did not notice before.
Better Spirit is based on a purely physical process without the use of chemicals.
In this process, the spirit is pumped from a full tank through the Better Spirit system into an empty tank before bottling. Bottling can then take place.

Fig. 1: The Better Spirit system
Tests with a young rum treated with Better Spirit and a 26-year-old untreated rum showed that the Better Spirit treatment reduces the chemical composition of the spirit (ethyl acetate, ethyl decanoate, sinapaldehyde, etc.) influenced similar to the natural aging process.

Better Spirit in the bar and restaurant area
Better Spirit also has a variant that is interesting for bartenders and innkeepers. This can be used to treat small quantities of spirits in shot glasses and cocktail glasses.
Fig. 3 shows such a system.

Appendix
Brief description of VINOflux (as a predecessor of Better Spirit)
Most red wines are somewhat rough on the palate after the fermentation process. This is due to the tannins and flavonides, which are mainly present as monomers. The wines are stored in tanks for several months before bottling. During this process, a slow polymerization process of the tannins and flavonoids takes place, making them softer and more pleasing on the palate.
VINOflux shortens this aging to about 1 minute through a purely physical process without the use of chemicals.
In this process, the wine is pumped from a full tank through the VINOflux system into an empty tank. After that, the wine can be bottled.
The VINOflux system is similar in design and process to the Better Spirit system in Fig. 1.
Fig. 4 shows a typical reaction for the polymerization process of tannins.
VINOflux offers the following advantages to the winemaker:
- Easy to perform optimization of the tannin profile.
- Earlier ROI due to acceleration of the wine aging process
- Degermination of wines
